Points For The Debate

Good evening Honourable panel of judges, team CFAP and our amiable guest judges. Good evening my co-debators and Good evening to you all. My name is Balogun Toluwani, the 5th speaker representing CFAP sisters FORUM. I am here to oppose the motion which says”To go far in life, you have to walk alone”.

I will start by defining the two words “far” and “alone”. Far means extreme and alone means to be without outside help.
Imagine yourself walking with a close friend, heading for a long distance along a street by the cool of the day, you will realise that you wont be tired or bored as you will be if you were to walk alone. The same thing is applicable in the journey of life. That’s why an African proverb says “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
If we were to walk alone in life, God would not have made us come through our parents, descending from heaven would have been better. Have you ever imagined the reason God admonishes us as Children to obey our parents? Eph 6:1-4 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right, verse 4a says “And ye fathers, provoke not your Children to wrath”. The reason this is God knows that little children knows nothing, therefore  need people who will supply care and love, by walking with them and through submission. And oft course we all know the impact of parents on Children. Little wonder verse 3 of this says”and thou mayest live long on earth”
The story of the tower of Babel in Gen11:1-9 also illustrates the significance of togetherness (let me clearly state it that people that surrounds must have the same aim and goal, that is, they are people that wants to go far and people that are there already Amos3:3) that is why God said in verse 6 that “this people is one…. and nothing will be restrained from them”. A man who is alone can not wrought this. John Lennon says”A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality”. This implies how strong and mighty being in unity could be.
Trials and troubles of this world get us disturbed and discouraged when we are alone, but when we have people around, they give words of encouragement, words that keep us pressing forward, words that help to maximise the moment and come out triumphantly.
Jesus Christ our Lord, The One who owns all power in heaven and on earth, while on earth appointed disciples for Himself so as to carry out the mandate. He appointed 12 and sent them forth by two and two and not individually Mark 6:7. Moses needed Aaron and Hur to hold up his hand while in battle with the Amalekites Ex17:12, Daniel worked in conjunction with the three Hebrew men. Elisha’s walk with Elijah was the free ticket to the double portion anointing. Paul walked with Silas. Timothy needed Paul.
In conclusion, Helen Keller said “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”  Our leaders cannot do it on their own, that is why they have advisers. A single person cannot be a family. The creator of the world did not do it alone when He wanted to  create man, Gen 1:26. Togetherness is the key to going far.
I hope with these points, you have been convinced that “To go far in life, you must not walk alone”. Thank you.
